The aim of our study was to determine if there are differences in blood pressure values after the administration of dental anesthetics with vasoconstrictor and without vasoconstrictor in adult patients seen in the Dental Service of IPRES I-3 América, 2018. The study was quantitative, experimental, quasi-experimental type. We evaluated 174 patients distributed equally in two groups: 87 patients in the experimental group (Mepivacaine) and 87 patients in the control group (Lidocaine). Results: In the experimental group (3% Mepivacaine), the mean baseline systolic blood pressure was 109.9 mmHg ± 20.0; the mean systolic blood pressure (second measurement) at the time of application was 114.7 mmHg ± 19.8 and the final systolic blood pressure (10 minutes after application) was 112.1 mmHg ± 19.0. The mean baseline diastolic blood pressure was 71.2 mmHg ± 12.4; the mean diastolic blood pressure (second measurement) was 74.2 mmHg ± 10.8 and the final diastolic blood pressure was 72.6 mmHg ± 11.2. There is a statistically significant difference between the following measurements: SBP Basal and SBP at the time (p = 0.000), SBP Basal and SBP at 10 minutes (p = 0.001), SBP at the time and SBP at 10 minutes (p = 0.000). There is significant statistical difference between the following measurements: Basal PAD and PAD at the time (p = 0.000), Basal PAD and PAD at 10 minutes (p = 0.006), PAD at the time and PAD at 10 minutes (p = 0.002). In the control group (2% Lidocaine) the mean baseline systolic blood pressure was 103.7 mmHg ± 14.1; the mean systolic blood pressure (second measurement) was 110.6 mmHg ± 17.0 and the final systolic blood pressure (10 minutes after application) was 109.8 mmHg ± 14.9. The mean baseline diastolic blood pressure was 66.6 mmHg ± 7.1; the mean diastolic blood pressure (second measurement) at the time of application was 68.4 mmHg ± 7.2 and the final diastolic blood pressure (10 minutes after application) was 67.0 mmHg ± 6.4. There is a significant statistical difference between the following measurements: Basal SBP and SBP at the time (p = 0.000), Basal SBP and SBP at 10 minutes (p = 0.000), SBP at the time. There is significant statistical difference between the following measurements: Basal PAD and PAD at the time (p = 0.000) and PAD At the moment and PAD at 10 minutes (p = 0.013). Conclusion: Patients receiving a dental anesthetic with vasoconstrictor present statistically significant differences in blood pressure (p = 000), also patients receiving a dental anesthetic without vasoconstrictor have significant statistical differences (p = 0.000).
