The research work was carried out in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Genetics (LBGM) - of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the National University of San Martin and the Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biotechnology of the National University Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza of Amazonas. Aiming to explore its biological function, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp lycopersici 4287 (FGSC 9935), Fusarium fujikuroi IMI 58289 and Fusarium graminearum CS3005, as well as their secreted F-RALF peptides. For this, two independent experiments were developed, the first one was to evaluate the sensitivity of the mycelial growth of the Fusarium species on an extracellular pH gradient and the availability of extracellular calcium through the action of a chelating agent; the second experiment consisted of evaluating the physiological response of F-RALF synthetic homologous peptides of the Fusarium species under study, using different concentrations of 0 to 5 μM in roots and hypocotyls of Arabidopsis thaliana. The results of the study reported that there is a positive effect on the mycelial growth of the Fusarium species as the extracellular pH of the culture medium increases; contrary to this, it is observed when there is a gradual sequestration of extracellular calcium with EDTA. Likewise, the effect of F-RALF homologous peptides, demonstrate that they have a negative effect of cell expansion in plants. Finally, our results conclude that the growth of Fusarium is dependent on pH and calcium and the production of its F-RALF homologous peptides during the growth phase and invasion of the host, reduce plant cell growth.
