This research was conducted during 2016 in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), whose population is between 40-65 years of age outpatient clinic of Noncommunicable Diseases Hospital Support Iquitos "César Garayar Garcia" during the months of March to July. Main objective was to relate the lifestyle of patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 disease with nutritional status during illness. This requires a model of non-experimental, descriptive, correlational and analytical. Data collection techniques used by the application of a IMEVID questionnaire, assessment of nutritional status through anthropometric measurements of weight, height to find the BMI. The glycemic index was verified the day of data collection using a glucose meter. It featured a sample of 132 participants, of whom 86 were women and 46 men. The results show that 56.8% of patients, are located at the optimum level of glucose "70-145 mg / dl," while 36.4% is located in the high risk level "> 160 mg / dl". The predominant nutritional status overweight was 39.4%. While for obesity 28.8% was obtained. For normal nutritional status the result was 22%, while for thinness was 1.5%. For type III obesity 3% was obtained. The results were processed, analyzed with SPSS version 21 program, using frequencies and percentages for qualitative variables, proving that there is relationship between lifestyle and nutritional status in patients with DM2; therefore, the lifestyle of people with this disease is reflected in the nutritional status.
