The aim of study was to determine in vitro antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of leaf and fruit of Capsicum frutescens "Aji Charapita" by disk diffusion and Macrodilution. Strains used were, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27833, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Salmonella tiphy ATCC 27347. It was used as a positive control antibiotic Gentamicin as negative control and ethanol / water. The phytochemical screening of the ethanol extract of Capsicum frutescens (Aji Charapita) showed the presence of carotenes and alkaloids most abundant in both plant parts (leaves and fruits), plus abundant saponins, phenols and tannins only on the leaves in comparison to the fruit, which showed little presence of these. Regarding the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of leaf, against Escherichia coli, a concentration of 12mg presented an inhibition of 13 mm, while the concentration of 6mg presented a halo 10mm. Against Staphylococcus aureus, the result was negative. Against Salmonella Tiphy, a concentration of 12mg present 7mm and 6mm 6mg halo respectively. For the case of fruit extract of Capsicum frutescens, at concentrations of 12 and 6 mg, Pseudomonas aeruginosa against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus showed no inhibition halos; against Salmonella tiphy, a concentration of 12mg and 6mg presented 6mm did not show halo of inhibition. In the macrodilution method, the ethanolic extract of Capsicum frutescens leaves little shown to be active against Escherichia coli (MIC: 8mg / ml); for Staphylococcus aureus, proved inactive (CMI: 32mg / ml), like Salmonella tiphy (CMI: 16mg / ml). For fruit extract, against Salmonella typhi proved inactive (CMI: 16mg / ml). For other strains study with ethanolic extract of fruits they showed no CMI in any given concentration in this study.
