This work is part of the line of research in public health and is not experimental, descriptive correlational and cross-sectional. Its objective is to relate caloric intake and eating habits with the nutritional status of the inmates of the rehabilitation center "Casa Hogar Talita Kumi" and the host house "Casa Hogar Betania". The sample consists of 58 sheltered in the two houses during the months of May, June and July 2018. The instruments used were: direct weighing of food, survey on frequency of consumption and nutritional record. The nutritional status is a clear indicator of frailty in alcoholics and drug addicts, as it influences the ability to cope with opportunistic diseases and has a marked consequence in their recovery. Results: In relation to caloric intake and normal nutritional status, it was found that 20.7% of the hostesses had high and normal caloric intake proportionally and only 1.7% had a low caloric intake. In terms of eating habits and normal nutritional status, it was found that 39.7% of inmates have healthy eating habits; while 3.4% is located in unhealthy. We conclude that there is a highly significant statistical relationship between the variable of nutritional status and the variables caloric intake (p <0.05 - p value = 0.029) and eating habits (p <0.05 - p value = 0.000).
