The objetives of the research for the species“Desmoncus polyacanthos Mart” known as cashavara or varacasha were to determine the survival / mortality, vigorosity, growth in length, growth in diameter and number of stipes. This was taken into consideration with the biometric measurements made during the last 10 years of the plantations studied, which are located in the floodplain of Jenaro Herrera (between Supay and Braga lakes) 200 km upstream of Iquitos. The plantation has an extension of 1, 25 ha approximately, distributed in 15 bands, with a distancing of 5 m; having a total of 131 plants in correlative form. For data collection, the methodology described by Sol-Sánchez (2007) was used. In the biometric data analysis was observed greater survival in flood zone with high percentage of plants, a good vigor of 72,73%, average of 5,59m in length and reaching measures of 0,96 cm of diameter per stipe. An individual may have between 2 to 13 stipes on average and average growth of 0,43 m per year. Therefore, it is concluded that these characteristics are the main reason for the conservation and use of the species "Desmoncus polyacanthos Mart.". Cashavara, with a view to its sustainability and contribution to ecological knowledge
