The present thesis work had as its study area the Itaya river, located in the city of Iquitos, Maynas province, Punchana district. The research work used the water from the mentioned water body from the area of influence with the spillway of the company Electro Oriente S.A. with the aim of identifying if the ECA’s (Environmental Quality Standards) water are within the values in their physical, chemical and microbiological parameters established in the Supreme Decret 004–2017 – MINAM, in its category 4: Conservation of the aquatic environment, in subcategory E2: Rivers. The national protocol for monitoring the quality of Surface Water Resources (Headquarters Resolution No. 010–2016 – ANA) was applied as methods and techniques for sampling and data collection. Thus establishing 3 sampling points (RITAY01, RITAY02 and RITAY03) for the respective sampling, in the dry season (emptying) and avenue (increasing) of the Itaya river. Which were sent to the laboratory and obtain the respective results. It is concluded that the waters of the Itaya river as a whole, show signs of alteration in its quality due to the effect of the wastewater from the company Electro Oriente S.A and other factors. Parameters such as color, nitrates, phosphates, thermotolerant coliforms, oils and fats. They present values higher than that established in Supreme Decree No. 004-2017-MINAM, exceeding the Environmental Quality Standards, so the research hypothesis is accepted.
