The purpose of the present study is to observe, evaluate and deduce the prevalence of periodontal biotypes characteristic of an individual, in this case of adolescents from the different health centers of the city of Iquitos with a specific age range off12 to 18 years. The type of research was quantitative; the design was observational, transversal, descriptive and analytical. The sample consisted of 268 adolescents who attended the dental office of posts and health centers in the districts of the city of Iquitos in 2018. The instrument used in the present study was a data collection form that included the informed consent form. The present study was of bivariate analysis between the characteristics and the periodontal biotype in the 268 (100%) adolescents who are treated in the dental offices of the health centers of characteristics of periodontal biotypes; in which the following was evidenced: When analyzing the characteristics, district of origin with periodontal biotype is that of the 59 (22%) adolescents from 12 to 18 years with gross periodontal biotype, 8.2% were from the district of san Juan Bautista, 6.0% from the district of Punchana, 4.9% of the district of Iquitos and 3.0% of the district of Belen correspondingly. Of the 209 (78.0%) adolescents with a thin periodontal biotype 33.6% were from the district of San Juan Bautista, 16.9% from the district of Punchana, 16.9 from the district of Belen and 10.8% of the district of Iquitos respectively On the analysis of sex with the periodontal biotype, it is observed that, of the 59 (22%) adolescents aged 12 to 18 years with gross periodontal biotype, 13.4% of them were males and only 8.6 % women proportionately. As for the 209 (78.0 %) adolescents with a thin periodontal biotype, 50% were males and 36.6% females, respectively. Regarding the analysis of age and periodontal biotype, we can see that, of the 59% (22%) adolescents between 12 to 18 years with gross periodontal biotype, 12.3% of them were between 12 and 14 years of age and 9.7% of them from 15 to 18 years old respectively. With respect to the 209 (78%) adolescents with thin biotype, 39.2% were between the ages of 12 to 14 years and 38.8% were between 15 and 18 years correspondingly. It was found that the periodontal biotype of the 268 (100%) adolescents who are seen in the dental offices of the Iquitos Health Centers and Posts, 78% of the adolescents are found to have a thin periodontal biotype while 22% had gross periodontal biotype respectively.
