This work was developed in the Department of Loreto, in Iquitos city, Maynas province, District of San Juan Bautista in the Town Center of St. Thomas Nanay - Nanay River. The town of Santo Tomas de Nanay center is located on the right bank of the Nanay River and Lake Mapacocha 40 minutes away by engine boat from Iquitos. Run a characterization study of household solid waste from Town Center Santo Tomas. Situational study of solid waste generation reflects how solid waste is occurring in homes as well as their physical composition thereof, to corroborate these results with the results of characterization. According to respondents, mostly waste generated in their homes are the remains of food with 55.4%, followed by papers with a 27.2% respectively; while residues that are less discarded plastics with 17.4% and between one another represented by 0%. The study in the town center of Santo Tomas concludes that the generation of household solid waste is 0.30 kg / person / day (Per capita generation). In the physical composition of household solid waste organic matter is the highest percentage with 82.20% and 12.66% represents inorganic and increased hazardous waste with a percentage of 5.14% is highlighted. With regard to solid waste collection, entirely of respondents it argues that receives this service every day 55%, while 31% leaving a day but receives only 1% rarely.
