The present study aimed to determine the difference between the values of chronological age and dental age according to the Demirjian method in children 6 to 12 years of the city of Iquitos of the year 2018-2019, the population of 2679 and the sample was formed for 204 digital panoramic radiographs of patients treated at the SODGEN Dental Center during 2018 and 2019. The research was quantitative, non-experimental, comparative, cross-sectional. The study hypothesis is to determine if there is a statistical difference between the values of chronological age and dental age according to the Demirjian method in children aged 6 to 12 years. The results show that the average chronological age in men was 10.10 years and in women 10.19 years. The age estimated by the Demirjian method in men was 9.46 years and in women it was 9.49 years. The Student t-test found that, in the male and female sex, the dental age is less than the chronological age with a difference of 4 months (ED – EC = 0.3) up to one year 3 months (ED – EC = 1.3) respectively. The Student's t-test for related samples was found to show significant differences between the chronological age and the dental age estimated by the Demirjian method p <0.05. It was concluded that the estimation of age by the Demirjian method and the chronological age are different; therefore, it is not applicable to children from 6 to 12 years of age in the city of Iquitos.
