In the present investigation the content of metals (iron, manganese, copper, zinc, magnesium, lead, cadmium and chromium) present in the root, bark and leaves of Maytenus macrocarpa ( chuchuhuasi ) of ethnomedicinal use in the Loreto region were evaluated. The descriptive study had as population individuals Maytenus macrocarpa (chuchuhuasi ) growing on both sides of the Iquitos -Nauta road from kilometer 17 to kilometer 50 and samples were collected from individuals transepts used by materos , this in order not to plunder the forest. Analyte concentration was determined in the team SpectrAAVarian Atomic Absorption AA 240, with drag Gas Air / Acetylene, hollow cathode lamp signal; detection is different for each element. Ionization temperature 3000 ° C, direct injection Aspiration, incineration furnace (muffle). The concentrations of heavy metals were analyzed 0,132 ppm cadmium exceeding the maximum permissible limits and.0,398 ppm lead. The concentrations of trace elements were analyzed in cortex 38,150 ppm iron , manganese 3,350 ppm, 4,790 ppm copper , zinc and chromium 13,300 ppm 4,583 ppm.
