The present work of investigation allows to determine the antioxidant activity of thirty one (31) species, belonging to fifteen (15) families, coming from the Tamshiyacu- Tahuayo community reserve, located in the Fernando Lores Tenazoa District in theLoreto Region - Peru, where the samples (leaves) were collected, in order to identify those that can be used as potential antioxidant agents. The determination of the antioxidant activity of the species was carried out in the facilities of the Biotechnology Research Laboratory of the National University of the Peruvian Amazon (UNAP), in the first stage the leaves were selected in good condition, since said samples (leaves) ) were taken to the Institute of Traditional Medicine (IMET), for the drying stage at a constant temperature of 40 ºC for a period of 8 days, thus obtaining the dry samples and then proceeding with the pulverization stage into very fine particles, followed by Samples were placed in 500 ml amber bottles and labeled correctly and then transferred to the biotechnology laboratory for further study. In the second stage, the antioxidant potential and the 50% effective concentration (EC50) were determined by means of the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrilhydrazil (DPPH) method, for which methanol extracts were prepared from dry foliar samples micropulverized at concentrations of 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.25, 0.50 and 5.0 mg / ml, to make the reading, 0.025 ml of the extract and 0.975 ml of the free radical (DPPH) at 517 nm were added by UV / vis spectrophotometry analysis, the determination of the antioxidant potential it was evaluated through the percentage of DPPH inhibition, distinguishing the discoloration of the solution from violet to yellow. The results show that of the thirty-one (31) plant species studied, three species resulted with a high percentage of inhibition at the concentration of 5.0 mg / ml: Virola calophylla (62.75%), Caryocar glabrum (74.25%) and Tapirira guianensis (57.40%) and an EC50 of 3.38, 2.79 and 4.13 mg / ml. According to the data obtained it was determined that these three species present high AAO, and the active principles responsible for this activity corroborate the presence of total phenolics in quantities of: Antocianinas 93.95 mg / 100g, phenolic 18580.87mg / 100g, flavonoids 144.33 mg / 100g, catechins 0.18 mg / 100g and alkaloids 1.54 and 3.15 mg / 100g. Thus fulfilling the objective of the project where it indicates that all plant species will have to exceed 50% of the percentage of antioxidant inhibition, in order to be considered in the next more advanced research studies.
