The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of modified Bass toothbrushing technique and modified Stillman toothbrushing technique in students from UNAP preuniversity center. The research was quantitative; the design was not experimental, descriptive, comparative, and cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 120 students of CEPRE – UNAP. Simplified oral hygiene index was used to check the level of plaque. The most important results were: Before applying the "Brushed Efficient" program; simplified oral hygiene index was similar in both groups with 27.5% for Bass technique and 25.8% for Stillman technique, in the Good category, followed by 21.7% for Bass technique and 24.2% for Stillman technique in the Regular category, and 8% only for Bass technique in Bad category. After applying the "Brushed Efficient" program; simplified oral hygiene index was different in both groups with 35.8% for Bass technique and 48.3% for Stillman technique in the Good category, followed by 13.3% for Bass technique and 1.7% for Stillman technique in the Regular category, and 8% only for Bass technique in Bad category. Before applying the program, the average of simplified oral hygiene index was 1.30 for the modified Bass technique and 1.28 for the modified Stillman technique. Before applying the techniques, groups showed no significant difference (p = 0.859). After applying the program, the average of simplified oral hygiene index was 0.71 for the modified Bass technique and 0.36 for modified Stillman technique. After applying the program, groups showed significant differences (p = 0.001). The modified Stillman technique was the one with greater efficiency compared to the modified Bass technique.
