The present study was carried out in the secondary educational institution "San José de Indiana", located in the rural area of the Loreto region, Peruvian Amazon. The purpose of this research was to demonstrate the association between food factors (eating habits and frequency of consumption) and sociocultural factors and the nutritional status of secondary school students of this educational institution; the research had a quantitative approach, non-experimental type, correlational descriptive design. The instruments used were: food habits survey, food consumption frequency survey, sociocultural survey, nutritional evaluation form. The sample consisted of 174 students of both sexes aged between 10 and 16 years, enrolled in the 2018 academic year in grades 1, 2, and 3 of secondary level. The main results obtained in this investigation were: 73.0% (127/174) of the adolescents presented a normal nutritional status; However, there was a high percentage of schoolchildren with thinness of 24.7% (43/174), the majority of schoolchildren had a poor frequency of food consumption (89.7%) and adequate sociocultural factors (67.8% ), demonstrating that there is a statistically significant relationship between nutritional status and dietary habits (Kendal τ_B = 3.16, p = 0.002), food consumption frequency (Kendal τ_B = 2.78, p = 0.005) and sociocultural factors ( τ_B of Kendal = 2.25, p = 0.024) in secondary school students of the IES "San José de Indiana".
