The diversity and structure of plant communities and their relationship between chemical and physical characteristics of soil in the area of influence of the Iquitos-Nauta road, Loreto, Peru, was studied by Pearson correlation index. This study was conducted within the framework of the project "Microzonificación Ecológica y Económica del ámbito de la carretera Iquitos-Nauta". Thirty-seven plots of 50x20 m and 102 pits were analyzed. The number of individuals is positively correlated with the amount of potassium (0.6532), percentage of sand (0.5481) and pH (0.4654); and negatively with the percentage of clay (-0.4909) and silt (-0.4301). The basal area was positively correlated with the percentage of organic matter (0.5676), cation exchange capacity (0.4778); and negatively correlated with the percentage of sand (-0.4084) and base saturation (-0, 3847). The number of species was negatively correlated with phosphorus (-0.6977), potassium (-0.6932), cation exchange capacity (-0.5675), organic matter (- 0.5655) and pH (-0.5015). Alpha diversity indices were negatively correlated with potassium (-0.6932), phosphorus (-0.6977) and organic matter (-0.5655).
