A real situation is the fact that many young people are in need of work and study at the same time. Empirically, we know that working and studying can represent an advantage and a disadvantage. The Higher Technological Institute "Pedro A. Del Águila Hidalgo" is not strange to this reality, many students work while studying a technical career. In that sense, we ask ourselves the question: What is the relationship between the work condition and the academic commitment of the students? The objective of the present study was to establish the relationship between the work condition and the academic commitment of the PADAH Institute students, Iquitos 2017. So, towards the achievement of this objective a sample of 302 students was chosen and a questionnaire was applied to identify their academic commitment and the working condition of them. After analyzing the results we found that the employment situation significantly and positively affects the academic commitment of the students: that is, those young people who study and work feel more committed or motivated with their studies. In addition, it can be affirmed that the occupational category does not significantly influence the academic commitment of the students, that is to say that the fact that the student works in the private sector or in the public sector or independently does not vary their motivation or academic commitment. We can also say that the work-career agreement significantly and positively affects the academic commitment of the students, that is, those young people who study and work feel more committed or motivated with their studies when there is a greater relationship between the career and the work they perform.
