It was determined the hypoglicemiant and toxicology activity of the ethanolic extract from Momordica charantia (papailla) abovehyperglicemia induced in Holtzmann strain male albins rats with experimental diabets induced with alloxan solution 5%, that was administrated by intaperitonial way to doses 125 mg/ Kg corpal weight, 48 hours before at the treatment;The rats were assigned toat ramdomly four groups, the first group recived physiological saline solution (negative control), the second group insulin (positive control), the third and fourth recived the correspondent doses of the plant in study (doses 200 and 500 mg/Kg c.w. respectivily) then administrating respective substance, we cuantified the glicemia to: one, three, six, twelve and twenty – four hours, at the end of the study was did euthanasia for all animals. According to the results, the ethanolic extract from Momordica charantiato doses 200mg/Kg c.w. decrease the glucose levels in 17.93% and to doses 500 mg/Kg c.w.decrease the glucose levels in 39.31%. It was founded decrease and increase significative stadistic (p< 0,05) of the glicemia in relation with the baseline hyperglicemic and control groups (positive and negative).It was realized the test sub–cronica toxicity during fourteen days, in this test was used Holtzmann strain both sexs albins rats with 220 ± 10 g. average weight to distributed in six groups, two groups of negative control and four groups of the problem sample;the ethanolic extract fromMomordica charantia to doses 200 and 500 mg/Kg c.w. it was regristed the corporal weight every three days during the time of study, didn´t observe sign toxicity, the corporal weight was constant and the same with of the control negatives, the macroscopic observation of the organs didn´t present neither alteration, it maintained in the normal value. The stomach and liver didn´t present degeneration in the hystopatologic analisys.
