Introduction: Currently, HIV infection remains one of the biggest public health problems; At the end of 2016 there were approximately 36.7 million people infected with HIV in the world and of these, 17.8 million were women over 15 years of age. Despite their condition, HIV (+) women maintain their desire to be mothers; Approximately worldwide, 1.4 million women infected with HIV get pregnant, and of these, between 15 and 45% have the probability of vertical transmission if they are not treated. This study allows to identify the level of knowledge about vertical transmission and its relationship with their reproduction expectations; and from this, collect elementary and accurate information about their sexual and reproductive health in order to promote autonomous and well-targeted decision making so that they can meet their needs. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 117 HIV (+) women aged between 15 and 44 years; who were recruited while waiting for the clinical consultation in the facilities of the Regional Hospital of Loreto (HRL). The information was collected through a survey, which allowed to determine knowledge about vertical transmission, sociodemographic data, data on decision-making power, data on sexual and reproductive health, knowledge about obstetric complications and data on their reproductive expectations, the results were processed in the IBM SPSS 25.0 statistical program for Windows, and univariate and bivariate analyzes were used with the Chi2 test. Results: The average age of the participants was 30.85 years, 55.6% were ≥ 30 years, 64.1% were cohabitants, 89.7% came from an urban area, 11.1% were illiterate and 23.1% had a paid occupation. 78.6% had the power to make personal decisions, 51.3% in decision-making in the home and 81.2% in maternity decision-making. Only 19.7% have a level of knowledge about low vertical transmission and 55.6% have no expectations of reproduction. 42.7% of their partners wanted to have a child; 55.5% had had a maximum of 2 pregnancies and 67.5% had had a maximum of 2 children. Finally, information on sexual and reproductive health 93.2% received information from a health staff. Conclusions: There is no statistically significant association between knowledge about vertical transmission and expectation of reproduction. (P value> 0.05). On the other hand, an association was found between age, the power to make decisions about maternity, expectations of reproduction of the couple, number of pregnancies and number of live children with the expectations of reproduction (P value <0.05).
