The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity in vitro of the ethanolic leaf extract of Manihot (cassava), by methods Macrodilution and Broadcasting disk. The sample was collected in the community of Nina Rumi province of Maynas, District of San Juan Bautista, Department of Loreto, Peru. And it was taxonomically identified in Amazonense Herbarium of the National University of the Peruvian Amazon (UNAP) and was deposited for preservation and laboratory determination of Food Industries - UNAP. The dried leaves were macerated in ethanol 96 °, for 14 days, then was concentrated on Rotavapor drying equipment and the environment, for obtaining ethanol extract. For the study of the antibacterial activity in vitro, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC strains 27853 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 was used. Fat, reducing sugars, flavonoids, bitter principles the phytochemical screening the presence of alkaloids, steroids, essential oils was found astringents, and in greater quantity phenols and tannins, amino acids and amines, lactones and coumarins. The results by the disk diffusion method, antibacterial activity not found in any of the extracts, at concentrations of 12 mg and 6 mg; Inactive so considered, against P. aeruginosa and E. coli, and the results by the macrodilution method in the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was not observed in any concentration tested, this reflects that bacterial growth is in continuous development; considered as Inactive. The ethanolic extract of M. esculenta no antibacterial activity.
