INTRODUCTION. Among the low IRAS, there are bronchial obstruction, prevalent in children. OBJECTIVE. To determine the utility of the Wood Downes severity scales modified by Ferres and Bierman and Pearson modified by Tal, to predict hospitalization, as well as to find the score with the best sensitivity and the likelihood ratio for a positive test result in patients under 6 years of age with SOB admitted to the hospital's pediatric emergency Regional of Loreto in the period March-April 2018. MATERIALS AND METHODS. It is a non-experimental, transversal and analytical study. Fisher's exact test and the Kappa index were used to identify differences and similarities; and ROC curve, the area under the curve to determine the score with the best sensitivity and LR + in each score. RESULT. 134 patients with BOS, hospitalized 26 (19.4%). The patients presented with mild bronchial obstruction were 113/134 (84.3%) according to the scale of Bierman and Pearson modified by Tal and 62/134 (46.3%) according to the Wood Dones scale modified by Ferres, moderate bronchial obstruction. The age group considered a predictor risk factor were <12 months and the male sex. The most frequent symptoms were cough (94.8%), sensation of thermal rise (76.1%) and sneezing (73.1%). Statistical differences were found between the results according to Fisher (p <0.03) and the Kappa index (-0.21), according to the ROC curve it was identified that the Bierman Pearson scale modified by Tal one S 66.67%, E 99.22%, LR + 85.3333 and LR- 0.3360. CONCLUSION. There is statistical difference between results. The Bierman and Pearson test modified by Tal had a good correlation with the hospitalization variable (Kappa index = 0.6) and according to the Area under the Curve (AUC) it was slightly higher, but both were good for predicting hospitalization.
