According to the World Organization of the Health (OMS) it is considered to the rational use of the medications, as “the situation by means of which the patients receive the appropriate medications to their clinical necessities, in the required dose, for the period of appropriate time and at an accessible cost” .Recientes investigations produce new clinical knowledge following the norms of the scientific method that it considers important aspects as detecting to the problems of health associated with the indiscriminate use of the antibiotics in the attentions Intrahospitalarias and this allows their evaluation of costs that causes the antibioticoterapia and they are of great importance in farmacoeconomia and clinical investigation. The patients entered in the unit of intensive cares present bigger risk of infections nosocomiales since in them they concentrate the decisive factors and but predominant of the infections existing a bigger repercussion as for the evolution of the patients, use of antibiotics and economic costs and it is the breathing infection and specifically the pneumonia. In the advances in the treatment with antibiotics in mature patients not this very resolved one the use of an antibiotic therapy with monoterapia or with combined therapy considering the different clinical diagnoses and the days of hospital stay. Anyway it is considered as factor the age, and the heterogeneous populations of the mature patients and with different infection type. As consequence of the excessive or inadequate use of the treatment with antibiotics you can exercise a negative effect when contributing to the development of antibiotic resistances and the appearance of resistant microorganisms that it implies a decrease in the therapeutic effectiveness, increment of hospital costs, morbilidad and mortality in the UCI of the Hospital III Iquitos EsSalud. Objectives “To determine the relationship of the pharmacological prescription and the cost of antibiotics used in mature patients with attention in the unit of intensive cares of the Hospital III Iquitos - EsSalud, 2009-2010” Materials AND Methods: He/she was Not carried out a study experimental, Traverse, Descriptive, Correlacional and Prospective, with aleatory samples in mature patients of both sexes with age from the 40 years until the 60 years that you/they received attention prescribes in the UCI of the Hospital III Iquitos-EsSalud during the months of October to December of the 2009 and January 2010. 115 mature patients were evaluated with Antibioticoterapia, considering the costs of the pharmacological prescription of this fármacos, days of hospital stay, clinical diagnoses evaluated by the different specialist doctors and that the patients have fulfilled the inclusion approaches considered investigation work presently. Results: They were carried out pharmacological prescription adapted in 72 patients and 25.0% with I diagnose of Pneumonia and they were 43 patients with inadequate prescription, with 46.5% with I not diagnose of Arterial Hypertension essential. The cost average of the antibiotics as I diagnose clinical in mature patients with Pneumonia with S / 235.41 and according to normal hospital stay in 63 patients with S/15.06. The cost average of the antibiotics used in 72 mature patients with normal pharmacological prescription was of S / 86.38 Conclusion: Exists use rational of antibiotics used in mature patients with attention in the unit of intensive cares of the Hospital III Iquitos. and evidence that demonstrates that the Pharmacological Prescription is related significantly at the costs of the Antibiotics
