This document presents the report of a study carried out with the purpose of evaluating and validating the use of coconut paste (Cocus nucifera) as inclusion in a diet for the growth of juvenile Colossoma macropomum, as a food alternative; To that end, an experiment was carried out at the Pucayacu Research Center (CIP), headquarters of the Research Program for the Use and Conservation of Water and its Resources - AQUAREC of the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute (IIAP) - San Martín branch, located in the community of Bello Horizonte, district of Banda de Shilcayo, province and department of San Martín. Three treatments were established, with three repetitions each: T1: 10% PCo, which combined traditional inputs (fishmeal, soybean cake and cornmeal) plus the inclusion of 10% coconut paste (Cocus nucifera) in finish pelletized T2: 0% PCo formulated only with traditional supplies, in the same finish as the previous one, and T3: 2CR was an extruded commercial diet of the Naltech brand, used as control. It was implemented nine experimental units, each conformed by 330 juveniles of gamitana with weights and average lengths of 27.64 grams and 11.92 centimeters, respectively, sown in sections of ponds. The biological parameters of Weight Gain (WG), Specific Growth Rate (SGR), Relative Growth Rate (RGR), Weight Variation Coefficient (WVC), Apparent Food Conversion Index (AFCI), Food Efficiency (FE), Condition Factor (K) and Survival Rate (S), were used as indicators of food efficiency. The values of the WVC, < 20% in the three treatments, indicate that the averages of final weights were representative at the end of the experiment. The treatment fish (T1: 10% PCo), achieved advantages in all parameters WG = 177.25 g, SGR = 1.96%, RGR = 684.97%, AFCI = 3.11 and FE = 0.34), less in the condition factor (K = 1.96). However, between the two control treatments, T2: 0% PCo and T3: 2CR, the second of these showed better performance (WG = 175.14 g, SGR = 1.87%, RGR = 622.62%, AFCI = 3.32, FE = 0.13 and K = 3.81), compared to the first (WG = 167.12 g, SGR = 1.85%, RGR = 607.08%, AFCI = 3.42, FE = 0.32 and K = 0.09), without significant difference in both weights (p = 0.31) as in length (p = 0.28) between treatments; that is, there was no statistical difference (p > 0.05), but the sequence is evident: T1:10% PCo > T3:2CR > T2:0% PCo. These results allow us to conclude that the gamitana (Colossoma macropomum), takes advantage very well of the coconut paste (Cocus nucifera), the advantages contributed to the growth in weight and length, as well as to the alimentary conversion, although not significant, indicate that the use of This input can be validated to include it in the formulation of diets to feed this species.
