This research aimed to implement an information management system to increase efficiency in safeguarding the information of the Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon - IIAP and was developed during the period from June to August 2015. The research belongs to quantitative descriptive and is quasi-experimental design, the population consisted of 50 researchers IIAP and the sample was represented by 20 researchers chosen for convenience, the technique used in data collection was the survey and the instrument the questionnaire. The Information Management System includes a set of services that IIAP offers members of its research community for the collection, technology transfer, promotion, distribution and management of digital documents. An organizational commitment to the stewardship of these digital documents is essential, including long-term preservation when necessary, as well as the organization and security of access. For the development of the system was performed in 4 stages as the iterative and incremental process ORs which are: Inception Phase, Development Phase Phase of Construction Phase Transition finally consisting implementation and system change, including training users. Finally for the evaluation of efficiency was hiring hypothesis and inferential statistical test was applied parametric t - studen, obtaining t calculated 𝑇𝐶= −5.395, critical value 𝑇𝛼 = −1.895 with degree of freedom 𝑑𝑓= 7, error level 5% 𝛼 = 0.05, 𝑇𝛼 > 𝑇𝐶 rejecting the null hypothesis (𝐻0) and the alternative hypothesis is accepted (𝐻𝑎) concluding that the implementation of a system of information management significantly increased the efficiency to safeguard digital information in the Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon - IIAP.
