In the present research work, the in vitro antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of Chamaesyce thymifolia was evaluated using agar diffusion and macrodilution methods. The bacterial strains used were: Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella sp., Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. As a positive control, the antibiotics gentamicin, meropenem, vancomycin and ciprofloxacin were used; as a negative control, an ethanol / water solution at a 1: 1 concentration. By the agar diffusion method, in the concentration of 25mg/ml the results showed that the ethanolic extract of Chamaesyce thymifolia shows antibacterial activity reflected in the inhibition diameters, obtaining a reading range Sensitive against Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella sp, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aerugionosa. By the Macrodilution method according to reading range, the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) at 16 mg / ml of the ethanolic extract of Chamaesyce thymifolia leaves proved to be inactive against Salmonella sp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aureginosa. At the concentration of 8 mg / ml, it proved to be not very active against the same bacteria. At the concentration of 4mg / ml, it was demonstrated that the effect of the ethanolic extract of Chamaesyce thymifolia leaves is Moderately Active against Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus.
