This research was conducted in the department of Loreto, province of Maynas, in sawmills that were in activity, and they were the following: Netrimac SAC, Raul Oswaldo Oliveira Garcia EIRL, Zambito EIRL, and Sico Maderas SAC. The information was collected in the months of March-April of this year. The study was aimed to quantify the solid waste generation in sawmills of Iquitos and to propose alternative uses with clean technology. The results show that the four companies in the study show their processing flow from logs into sawnwood in a similar way, as described: buoy main sawing, resawing, edging down, blunt, preserved, drying and storage. 204 people work in the mills, three are professionals 0.75 (1.29 por ciento) per mill; 17 Administrative with 4.25 people per mill, the largest group is the category of workers in total 184 people (89.1 por ciento). Two (02) companies have winches and main saw with less than five years of use and the other 02 have winches and main saw between 5.1 to 10 years of used; 01 company has an 0-5 years old edger and notcher, and another has a 5.1 to 10 years old edger and notcher; 02 of them have an older than 10 years edger, notcher and; the preservation tubs in all four cases are greater than five years old, while 03 of the companies have drying chambers, one of them has a drying chamber between 5.1 to 10 years of use and two of them with more than 10 years of use. The winches in all cases are of local craftsmanship; the main blades are purchased on the international market; two edging and notchers locally made craft and two of Brazilian origin; the preservation tub are made of wood and of local craftsmanship, drying chambers are all masonry. Average yields for the 04 mills are for narrow commercial wood which represent a yield equal to 55.93 por ciento, the half round logs and sawdust are very similar and represent 15.91 por ciento and 15.7 por ciento and finally the waste represents 9.06 por ciento. The proposed application of clean technologies for analyzed sawmills can produce significant economic and environmental benefits in a short period of time, most of the proposed measures aim at management changes and habits used by the company, which are the starting point for the sustainability of a clean production process.
