The research was carried out at the Iquitos Urban Forest Ecosystem Conservation and Protection Center located in the Amazon Natural Resources Research Center (CIRNA) of the UNAP, which has 2 ha of forest, located in the District of San Juan Bautista, Province of Maynas and Department of Loreto. The general objective was to evaluate the economic and environmental importance of CO2 storage in the CIRNA - UNAP urban forest. And as specific: determine the total green biomass, determine the capacity of the CO2 storage stock and determine the economic value related to the CO2 storage capacity. It is a descriptive-prospective study at a basic level, where the main characteristics of the vegetation (trees) in the sampling area were observed at the same time, the data was recorded that included all the trees that have ≥ 2 DAP, for which a diametric tape was used, then the total height of each tree was measured using an optical clinometer, data that were later analyzed according to the formulas established for the calculation of CO2 and interpreted for the conclusions of the study. We found in the 2 ha of approximate extension a total green biomass of 10,858 kg, which makes 5,426 kg per ha. These results are the sum of the aerial green biomass (9,048 kg) plus the root green biomass (1,810 kg), representing the 648 registered individuals. In the entire sample area, a CO2 storage stock was found: 7.9694 t, which makes a CO2 stock per ha: 3.9847 t, having as a referential valuation according to the information referred to SENDECO a carbon bonus of € 246.41 per year.
