The present research work was developed in the district of Iquitos, with the following sectors as area of influence: sector 02, sector 05, sector 07, sector 09 and sector 11, formed by a total of 210 manzanas. Being the objective to evaluate the level of knowledge that has the resident of the city of Iquitos, on how to perform a proper segregation of their solid waste. The method used is based on a participatory approach through surveys and questionnaires to the families of the district of Iquitos, as well as the documentary information generated by the operation of the project, based on the systematic collection of numerical data, which will make possible the analysis by means of simple statistical procedures to obtain valid information, for this purpose dichotomous and multiple-response surveys were used, as well as the structure and size of the sample to be used that will be blocking the entire district and selecting at random five (5) sectors for your evaluation. The level of information held by the citizen on how to properly segregate their solid household waste, is very lacking in basic concepts that are undoubtedly necessary to be part of a segregation program that has been two years since it began. The population immersed in the research work had a total of 136 respondents older than 18 years of which: 36.5% belong to the age group of 18-29 years and 32.5% belong to the age group of 30-42 years. While, 57.9% were women and 42.1% were men. In addition, 34.9% of the respondents had a full secondary education; while 30.2% represent those with complete higher education. Understanding as a full superior to technical and / or university education. The percentage distribution of number of people / family, 46% have a maximum of 5 members per family but 54% have 6 to 10 people / family; this infers in the population behavior as well as the consumerism. Of the 29% of the population that is working in the district of Iquitos in the RRSS segregation program at the source, 88.1% did not receive training by a professional representative of the segregation program, the neighbors They affirmed that the collectors of the municipality went to their homes to stick a sheet on their doors; Besides; to instruct them to fill the bags with plastic materials. The professionals in charge of the program train their collectors 10-15 minutes before leaving so they can multiply the neighbors when they pick up the bags. Here is the error that the municipality is making because those who have to train are the professionals in the subject so that they can solve the doubts and concerns of the citizen participating in the program; This corroborates the truthfulness of table No. 28 in which it indicates that they received training for their workplace or studies. In order for the program to be successful, it was necessary to carry out a proper training, obtaining as a result of this training the enrichment of information and knowledge on a current environmental issue. However, the little training was not decisive to change attitudes and it was not adequate for the participants in the Segregation Program at the source initiated by the Municipality of Maynas to understand it. Concluding, with the acceptance of the proposed hypothesis.
