The objective of this professional work is to develop the casting design for the manufacture of the bar carrying cars by foundry (Fundición Callao S.A), in low alloy steel ASTM A217-WC6, applying the software for the simulation of solidification of "SolidCast" parts. The procedure is based on: modeling in SolidCast software, casting simulation, analysis of results, adjustments and controls in manufacturing through quality reports (chemical composition, dimensional control, hardness, tensile test, metallographic test and penetrating liquids). During the manufacturing process of the cast iron bar carriages, the final casting design is validated through quality control reports, destructive tests (ED) and non-destructive tests (NDT). By developing the final casting design for the manufacture of cast iron bar carriages, it is possible to eliminate possible defect problems and increase the quality of the finished product. The use of software (SolidCast) is economically justified, since a saving of $42,356 is obtained for the manufacture of 100 bar-carrying cars.
