Introduction: The puerperal stage is the period after childbirth, in which the woman experiences increased risk of complications due to: hemorrhages, infections and postpartum hypertensive diseases, these complications are directly related to maternal morbidity and mortality during the puerperal stage. Objectives: To determine the factors associated with maternal complications during the puerperium in the María Auxiliadora Lima - Perú 2017 hospital. Design: An observational, cross-sectional study with an analytical component will be carried out. Sample: All the population that had its birth in the María Auxiliadora hospital. Techniques and procedures: Data collection was carried out throughout the month of January 2018. Data was taken from the computer system of the María Auxiliadora Hospital and the extraction of information from the clinical records for the application of the instrument developed. The descriptive analysis was carried out with the STATA 14.1 program. Results: The prevalence of complications in the puerperium in the María Auxiliadora hospital was 33.3%, the complication that occurred most frequently was postpartum hypertension in 9.7%, followed by uterine atony in 5.9% and less frequently the birth canal injury was presented with 2.1%. The sociodemographic factors identified were an average age of 27 years, marital status (75.1%), complete secondary education (64.14%), housewife occupation (84.0%), place of urban origin (97.5%) ), belonging to a health center (97.9%), multiparous parity (67.5%), sufficient prenatal care (NPC) (76.4%), normal body mass index (BMI) (35.4%), no previous maternal disease ( 51.1%), hemoglobin = 11 g / dl (45.2%), type of emergency cesarean delivery (44.3%), volume of bleeding between 500 cc and 1000 cc (54.9%). Being a housewife is a protective factor for not developing uterine atony with an OR = 0.22 and a 95% CI (0.07 - 0.69), while being a student is a risk factor for developing uterine atony with an OR = 12.12 and an IC to 95% (3.66 - 40.13). The use of misoprostol is a protective factor for not performing uterine atony with an OR = 0.12 and a 95% CI (0.02 - 0.92). The induction of labor is a risk factor for developing a birth canal injury with an OR = 25 and a 95% CI (2.71 - 230.85). The volume of bleeding between 500 cc and 1000 cc is a protective factor for not developing tissue retention with an OR = 0.11 and a 95% CI (0.01 - 0.91). Peripartum fever is a risk factor for developing endometritis with an OR = 7.86 and a 95% CI (1.40 - 43.99). Chorioamnionitis is a risk factor to develop operative site infection (ISO) with an OR = 12.61 and a 95% CI (1.14 -139.57). The weight = 4000 g is a risk factor for developing mastitis with an OR = 25.18and a 95% CI (4.30 - 147.48). That the pregnant woman has hypertensive pathology of pregnancy is a risk factor for developing postpartum hypertension with an OR = 6.09 and a 95% CI (2.41 - 15.39). Conclusions: The prevalence of complications during the puerperium was 33.3%, and the complication most frequently found in the study was postpartum hypertension, with 9.7% and only 2.1% of birth canal injury.
