Introduction: The prevalence of diabetic patients with a history of foot ulcers is higher than the prevalence of active ulcers, representing approximately 3.1% to 11.8% of diabetic patients, ranging from 1.0 to 3.5 million. of people worldwide, between 12.9 and 49 million people (3) Between 2018 and 2022, the rate of new complications in patients with diabetic foot increased by 5.8%, while the prevalence rate was 12. 8%. Objective: Determine the risk factors for lower limb amputation in patients with diabetic foot at the Adolfo Guevara Velasco National Hospital in Cusco, 2020-2023. Materials and Method: It was an observational, analytical and retrospective study, using a cohort design through the review of medical records at the Adolfo Guevara Velazco National Hospital - Cusco from the period 2020 to 2023. The sample calculation was 130 participants, but a rate was obtained 10% loss. From a total of 143 participants, a data collection sheet was used to obtain information from medical record. Results: The factors associated with lower limb amputation were found to be the only significant association: having a history of osteomyelitis with p < 0.001, which when calculating its HR was 3.08 with 95% CI [1.77 – 5.36]. Conclusions: The factor associated with amputation is a history of osteomyelitis.
