Introducción: La funcionalidad familiar es crucial para el comportamiento de los adolescentes frente al consumo de alcohol. Familias con relaciones cálidas y buena comunicación tienden a tener adolescentes con menor consumo de alcohol. Ambientes familiares conflictivos o con falta de apoyo aumentan el riesgo de consumo de alcohol entre los jóvenes. Es importante entender esta relación para implementar intervenciones efectivas y políticas preventivas. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre funcionalidad familiar y el consumo de alcohol nen adolescentes de una institución educativa del distrito de Urcos, Cusco – 2024. Material y métodos: El método del estudio fue cuantitativa, descriptiva correlacional, de diseño no experimental y transversal. La muestra estuvo constituida por 200 estudiantes del cuarto y quinto grado de secundaria de la Institución Educativa del distrito de Urcos, Cusco Resultados: Se observaron correlaciones negativas significativas entre la funcionalidad familiar y diversas medidas relacionadas con el consumo de alcohol: riesgo de alcohol (rho= -0.211, p = 0.001), síntomas de dependencia (r = -0.300, p < 0.01), consumo nocivo de alcohol (r = -0.242, p < 0.01), y consumo de alcohol en adolescentes (r = -0.264, p < 0.01). Conclusiones: La funcionalidad familiar muestra una correlación negativa significativa con el consumo de alcohol y la dependencia entre adolescentes en Urcos, Cusco, sugiriendo que fortalecer las relaciones familiares es crucial para reducir estos comportamientos de riesgo.
Introduction: Family functionality is crucial for adolescents' behavior towards alcohol consumption. Families with warm relationships and good communication tend to have adolescents with lower alcohol consumption. Conflictive or lack of support family environments increase the risk of alcohol consumption among young people. It is important to understand this relationship to implement effective interventions and preventive policies. Objective: Determine the relationship between family functionality and alcohol consumption in adolescents from an educational institution in the district of Urcos, Cusco – 2024. Material and methods: The study method was quantitative, descriptive correlational, nonexperimental and cross-sectional design. The sample was made up of 200 students from the fourth and fifth grade of secondary school from the Educational Institution of the Urcos district, Cusco. Results: Significant negative correlations were observed between family functionality and various measures related to alcohol consumption: alcohol risk (rho = -0.211, p = 0.001), dependence symptoms (r = -0.300, p < 0.01), consumption harmfulness of alcohol (r = 0.242, p < 0.01), and alcohol consumption in adolescents (r = -0.264, p < 0.01). Conclusions: Family functionality shows a significant negative correlation with alcohol consumption and dependence among adolescents in Urcos, Cusco, suggesting that strengthening family relationships is crucial to reduce these risk behaviors.
