The location and the function performed by the lower jaw, makes it a very prone bone to fracture by traumatic bone damage, having unpleasant physical, psychological and economic consequences. This study was conducted with the aim of contributing to the health information system of Peru, in order to evaluate past situations to predict future and better cope with the present. To do it was considered: The distribution of fractures according to sex, age group, origin and occupation, trends of access to hospital (entry mode, service, the reference, and the time to passed to the query ), the stationary frequency (annual, monthly and daily ), the place of occurrence (rural or urban), etiology, trends diagnostic (used imaging resources, type of trauma, craniofacial fractures associated, loss of post traumatic consciousness, and traumatic post complications), classification of fractures, and finally the propensities of treatment (treatment type, and length of hospital stay). The methodology consisted of observation and systematic, orderly and regulated description of medical records. It had a sample 128 medical records, 96 in the Hospital Regional and 32 to the Hospital Adolfo Guevara Velasco. Males were the most affected, as well as the age group 18 to 24 and 25 to 39 years old, Cusco and La Convencion were the provinces of Cusco that had more cases, and other departments as Apurimac and Madre Of God. The students and the workers presented most cases. The most widely used form of entry was “emergency“ service, were mostly referrals from other health centers, and the service most requested was the surgery to head, neck, and maxillofacial. The years most often cases were 2008 and 2014, to the months of the second quarter. There are no significant differences between the places of ocurrence rural and urban. Traffic accidents were the main cause for the production of mandibular fractures, being those most presented motorcycle accidents; then the falls, and accidents at home. The auxiliary test more used was the Orthopantomography, followed by the use of computed tomography. The vast majority of patients suffered fractures due to multiple injuries. A greater number presented of single fractures jawbone, and in cases where there are other craniofacial bones affected, the maxilla bone is dominant. Most patients with mandibular fractures did not lose consciousness after trauma, were not inebriated and did not present post traumatic complications. The location most affected was the mandibular angle, followed by parasymphysis; Most fractures was simple, unilateral, closed, and displaced; the total of medical records do not report data for the classification for line direction. The most widely used treatment modality was open reduction, leaving patients hospitalized for predominant periods 6 more days.
