Introduction: the present research titled “SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MOTHERS WITH EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING THAT COME TO THE HEALTH CENTER CALLED “CENTRO DE SALUD URCOS”, CUSCO 2017“;Whoseobjective is to determine the social and cultural characteristics of mothers with exclusive breastfeeding who comes to “Centro de Salud Urcos” Health Institute, Cusco 2017. Methodological Design: the study was descriptive “Describes the social and cultural characteristics of mothers with exclusive breastfeeding“; And Transversal the information was collected in a single opportunity, through a structured survey instrument and applied to 85 mothers. The results: 85 (100%) mothers, social characteristics was included in this research,45% are within the age group of 19 to 29 years, 76% come from rural areas; 52% have a “Cohabiting“ civil status, 47% have only one child (new mothers); 53% have “secundary instruction“; 40% are employed as “housewives“; 29%knows the importance of exclusive breastfeeding; 36%know the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for the baby; 54% presented Wounds or cracks in the nipple as a difficulty at the beginning of breastfeeding. Cultural characteristics according to language 81% speak Quechua and Spanish as a language; 65% believe that breastfeeding causes the breasts to hang; 49% believe they have low amounts of milk at the time of breastfeeding; 41%are fed with complete menu; 29%know that exclusive breastfeeding works asa contraceptive method; 41%of mothers believe that complementary feeding before six months their children will be stronger; 47% of mothers their husbands are those who encourage to give complementary feeding before the six months of age; And Finally it is.
