The purpose of this research is to study the Vehicular Traffic of 4 main arteries of the city of Abancay: Av. Arenas, Av. Enrique Pelach, Jr. Lima and Jr. Arequipa; that year after year there is a greater increase in the number of vehicles causing traffic congestion. The objective of the thesis is to use the methodology (methodological and conceptual aspects) of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM 2016), to determine the Road Capacity and Level of Service. However, the modeling, simulation and proposal of solutions were carried out in the VISSIM 11 Software, with their respective Service Levels. For the current scenario, the control devices and geometric characteristics of the road section were identified; obtaining service levels and vehicle delays. For the scenario with proposals, the simulation was carried out by reconfiguring the control devices; restricting directions and turns of traffic, improving traffic conditions for users and geometric modifications of the road; Better service levels and vehicle delay times were achieved at all 23 intersections. It is concluded, based on the proposed proposals, the service levels of the road section Av. Enrique Pelach, Av. Arenas, Jr. Lima, Jr. Arequipa, Jr. Mcal Gamarra and Pje were improved. Carmelitas from D to C. Regarding the traffic light intersections, the service level of the Av. Arenas, Av. Núñez and Jr. Arequipa intersection improved from D to B, as did the remaining 08 that decreased their service levels. On the other hand, the non-signalized intersection of Jr. Arequipa with Jr. Huancavelica improves the level from D to C, just as the remaining 13 intersections decrease the level of service. Regarding the delay time of the road section studied, with the new road design proposals it was reduced by more than 40% compared to the current situation in most of the intersections.
