The present research is the “Evaluation of the application of the method of continuous flow intersection (CFI) at the intersections of Avenida de la Cultura with Avenida José Gabriel Cosio/Calle Gordon Magne, Avenida de la Cultura with Avenida Diagonal Angamos and Avenida de la Cultura with Calle Sta. Úrsula- 2023”. The objective of the research is the evaluation of the continuous flow intersection (CFI) method in conventional intersections, this involves restricting left turns, consequently reducing conflict points, seeking vehicular decongestion under the criteria of service levels with the objective of reduce delay times. The research methodology is quantitative, with a descriptive approach, using the hypothetico-deductive method and experimental design. The study focuses on all signalized intersections along Avenida De la Cultura, one of the busiest and most congested roads in the city of Cusco. The sampling method developed in the research is non-probabilistic, since samples were selected for convenience taking into account signalized intersections with the presence of left turns that cause points of conflict. Data collection formats such as the vehicle capacity issued by the MTC were used. A topographic survey was carried out to obtain the current geometry of the road, and the traffic light characteristics at the intersections. The aim was to improve the level of services of the proposed intersections, comparing the current geometry with a new one applying the CFI method, verifying its efficiency through modeling in the PTV VISSIM software. The results demonstrate a substantial decrease in delay times at the intersections of Avenida de la Cultura with Avenida José Gabriel Cosio/Calle Gordon Magne, Avenida de la Cultura with Diagonal Angamos, where the application of the CFI was achieved. Therefore, we conclude that the application of the continuous flow intersection methodology optimizes vehicular flow and improves service levels at the study intersections.
