The present work entitled “LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE ON EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING IN ADOLESCENT MOTHERS ATTENDED AT THE GINECO OBSTETRICS SERVICE OF SANTA ROSA HOSPITAL, PUERTO MALDONADO, 2017“. The objective was to determine the level of knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding in adolescent mothers attended in the service of Obstetrics Gynecology Hospital Santa Rosa, Puerto Maldonado, 2017. The methodological design was descriptive cross-sectional, the sample population was composed of 95 teenage mothers. The technique used was the interview and the instrument was the questionnaire. The results were: Within the general characteristics, 69% of mothers are between 17 and 18 years old, 41% of mothers come from rural areas, 45% of mothers study, 46% of adolescent mothers have an economic income of 750 - 1000 soles, 72% of mothers have complete secondary education, 52% are cohabitants, 76% of mothers have only one child. Within the level of knowledge about breastfeeding 61% do not know about the definition of exclusive breastfeeding, 73% do not know about the time of initiation of breastfeeding, 59% do not know about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, 57% do not know about benefits of breastfeeding, 59% are unaware of the maternal benefits of breastfeeding, 65% are unaware of the age until exclusive breastfeeding should be provided, 53% know how long the child should be breast-fed in each session, 69% are unaware of the maintenance of breastfeeding, 72% if you know what are the intervals for exclusive breastfeeding, 62% know what are breastfeeding techniques, 70% do not know about the definition of colostrum, 69% do not know about the importance of colostrum. In conclusion it was obtained that 51% have a bad knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding, 28% a regular knowledge and 21% a good knowledge.
