The research “Analysis and Study of the performance of conventional asphalt mixture PEN 85/100 Plus and modified asphalt mixture with polymer SBS PG 70 -28“ proposes to carry out the analysis of the mechanical behavior and the performance, that have both types of asphaltic mixtures having as patron of study the conventional asphalt mixture PEN 85/100 Plus. Taking as a fact that in Cusco usually use conventional asphalt mixtures with asphalt PEN 85/100, the standard asphalt mixture PEN 85/100 Plus was used as the standard mixture, and in this work a proposal for improvement through an asphalt mixture modified with SBS PG 70 -28 polymer, which takes the polymer modified asphalt binder and classified by performance grade (PG) recommended by the Superpave methodology to be used in cold climates, as it happen in Cusco. For research purposes, the designs for both types of asphalt mixtures were made under the same considerations, using the same aggregates and the same gradation for both asphalt mixtures, having as only variable the kind of asphalt binder used for the mix designs, the test bodies were then molded for performance tests taking the optimum content of the asphalt mixtures studied. The performance tests performed try to determine the behavior of the asphalt mixtures to the two most frequent problems that happen in the asphalt mixtures as they are, the resistance to the permanent deformation and the resistance to fatigue, reason why tests of Hamburg Wheel Tracking with the purpose of determining the susceptibility to the permanent deformation or rutting and fatigue tests in 4-point beam that will allow to determine the susceptibility of the asphalt mixture to suffer fatigue problems due to repetitive load applications generated by the volume of traffic . These tests will allow to determine the performance of the asphalt mixtures and their behavior in service.
