This research is focused on determining the behavior of volume measurement of the water flow meters used in Cusco, evaluating them in terms of angle of inclination. Inclined installation of a meter is recurrent in the majority of cases because of factors such as the topography of the area, the position of the array of water with respect to home supply connection, maneuverability of the operator and others. Peruvian Metrological Standard 005-2011 states that they should not exceed 5 ° in the tilt of the meter as this could lead to measurement errors. Therefore, the meters are evaluated in laboratory incline levels of 5%, 10%, 15%, 25% and 35% in the best representation possible of all of the meters used in Cusco, subjecting them to meter flow tests, including permanent flow (Q3) , transition flow (Q2) and minimum flow (Q1). The laboratory results are corroborated by the results of fieldwork, where meters that were installed at an incline within the city of Cusco were contrasted those that were installed horizontally. The losses for the non-billed water due to the incline at which the meters were installed, which is expressed in its monthly billing, were quantified. Finally the correlation between the angle of inclination and the error generated was evaluated. According to the results of research and respective analysis, it was concluded that there is an undermeasurement related directly to the incline of the meter , expressed in the negative correlation between these two variables, the transition flow and minimum flow, while the with the permanent flow there is a relationship of very little significance; likewise it was reflected in the monthly billing, where inclined meters generate an undermeasurement with respect to horizontally installed meters, where the loss is shown in the unbilled water.
