Introduction: Preeclampsia is a hypertensive disease of pregnancy, where blood pressure is greater than 140/90 mmHg, this affects about 10% of pregnant women, being the first cause of maternal death in urban areas of our country. The use of MPV and RDW as a diagnostic support method is cheap and easily available. The aim of this study is to determine if the MPV and the RDW are serological markers of preeclampsia, in patients who concluded their pregnancy at the National Hospital Adolfo Guevara Velasco, in the year 2017 Methods: An observational study of cases and controls was performed, a sample size of 118 patients was obtained, where 59 cases and 59 controls were obtained, by fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were obtained by means of a “data collection card“ from the medical records. In the data analysis plan, the Odds Ratio was obtained with its 95% confidence interval and the Pearson Chi - Square test. The data obtained were processed using the statistical software “SPSS statistics (version 22)“. Results: In the results it was obtained that the MPV ad an OR of 7.24 with an adequate 95% CI, with a Chi-square with a value of P = 0.000 which gives it statistical validity, the RDW had an OR of 1.68, but its 95% CI contains the value “1“ and values lower than this, associated with a chi square with a value P = 0.21, which confirms the absence of a statistical significance. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the MPV is a serological marker of preeclampsia while the RDW is not a serological marker of this pathology.
