Objective: To define the epidemiological, clinical, and pathological profile of patients treated for senile cataract in the ophthalmology department of the “Adolfo Guevara Velazco Hospital –ESSALUD”- Cusco from July 2022 to July 2023. Methods: We apply a quantitative study with a descriptive, retrospective, and observational scope, utilizing a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample was formed of 254 patients diagnosed with senile cataract, using a data collection sheet as the research instrument. Results: The epidemiological profile results showed that 39.8% were aged between 70 to 79 years, 50.4% were male, 85.0% came from urban areas, and 51.6% had pursued higher education. Clinically, 76.3% have the nuclear type of cataract, 68.9% presented with vision reduction as symptoms and signs, 45.7% have the right eye affected, 15.7% have 20/40 visual acuity in the right eye, and 13.4% have 20/100 in the left. Pathologically, 2.8% have myopia, 3.5% suffered from glaucoma, 23.6% have hypertension, 9.1% suffered from type 2 diabetes. Regarding substance use, 2.8% consumed corticoids, 6.3% consumed alcohol and 100% of the patients did not use tobacco.
