The objective of this investigation was quantifying the available fire flow on a group of hydrants that were located in a high fire risk zone. The registed flow will be similar to the fire flow used by the firefighters. The study was divided in two parts. On the first part of the investigation, the objective was find high fire risk locations. To achieve this goal, a scale was proposed based on the “MESERI (Método Simplificado de Evaluación de riesgo de incendio” method and it was used to evaluate all Wanchaq’s buildings. Risk maps were done using a GIS and the fire risk values, the maps show six zones where the edifications had high fire risk. On this area we suggest do risk mitigation labors and do fire flow test on drink water pipes. On the second part of the investigation, one zone was selected of six possible for test and measuring of pressure and flow on hydrants. Information about the function, pressure and flow of 13 hydrants located on the “Urbanización Parque Industrial” was collected using field test tabs. The results showed that fire flows on the field were lower than required fire flows and the pressure on hydrants were higher than pressure required by Peruvian laws. Th flow test were done on high consumption hour to simulate the worst conditions. This information must be used like a guide for later inspections and test on the drinking water pipes.
