This investigation aims to determine the combined effect of biopolymers with stipa ichu to improve the physics and mechanical properties of silt soil of the APV Yunca Huayco, San Jerónimo, Cusco. Through dry density and simple unconfined compression tests, this objective was accomplished. The methodology selected is based on an experiment design called “D-optimized”, which aims to give an optimal design of forty-two samples per drilling obtained randomly. For this reason, this process began with representative samples of altered soil from three (03) pits. The Laboratory tests were granulometry, liquid limit, plastic limit, moisture content, modified proctor, simple unconfined compression, and dry density, following procedures according to national regulations. Biopolymers produced by animals, vegetables, and microorganisms are used in this investigation. So, the action was to assign percentages of 0.75% and 1.5% for each combination of silt soil with biopolymers with stipa ichu and without them. Therefore, this thesis applied analysis of variance (ANOVA) to evaluate the statistical significance of main effects and variable interaction. This study opens doors to determine factors relative importance of physics and mechanics soil properties contributions. The result indicates a significant effect of reduction of dry density in the combination of biopolymers and ichu. On the other hand, the result shows us a significant effect between the increase of compressive strength by gellan and the reduction caused ichu reduction. Otherwise, not exist a significant effect between the combination lignin and casein on compressive strength.
