The present study aimed to study the relationship between Personality Styles and Stress Levels in family caregivers of patients with Psychiatric Disorders treated at the Mental Health Hospital of “San Juan Pablo II“, Cusco. The sample included 170 family members. Data was gathered through the Multiaxial Clinical Inventory- Millon II (MCMI-II) and the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale. The present study used a descriptive-correlational research design. The results indicate that personality styles and stress levels are significantly correlated. Results suggest that the majority of family members present a compulsive personality with less risk of stress (10%). The majority of personality styles according to dimension, belong to clinical personality patterns (79.4%) and according to ranks, most presented a high rank with 85.9%. Stress levels are more in the dimension of personal aspects (50.6%) and the stress levels presented in higher frequency among participants was the maximum stress levels (50.6%). Personality styles and stress levels; according to gender, found females in greater proportion presenting compulsive personality (51.8%) and the stress in maximum degree with 53.4%. According to the stage of life, in greater proportions were the adults representing the 58.8%, who presented compulsive personality (23%) and lower risk of stress (40.4%). According to kinship, in greater proportion were the parents with 41% presenting compulsive personality (22.9%) and the stress in maximum degree with 64.3%. According to the diagnosis, was found in greater proportion the diagnosis of schizophrenia (20%) with compulsive personality (8.8%) and the highest degree of stress levels (64.7%).
