The present investigation sought a methodology of mixing design for blocks of concrete by means of the relation between the compressive strength (f'b) of a concrete block and the compressive strength (f'c) of a cylindrical sample of the same concrete dosage. Initially, the conventional unit of concrete masonry manufactured in the city of Cusco was identified, for which evaluation of the physical properties (dimensional variation, warping, absorption, density) and mechanical properties (resistance to compression) was carried out. Taking into account the dosage of the conventional unit 7:1:1 (confitillo: sand: cement), dosages were proposed varying the amount of confitillo and sand, selecting some of these by means of the trial and error method, for its development in the investigation. With the selected dosages of proceeded to elaborate concrete blocks and cylindrical witnesses, making an evaluation of the physical properties (dimensional variation, warping, absorption, density) and mechanical properties (resistance to compression) of the elaborated units, to then analyze the data and in this way find a relationship that links the compressive strength (f'b) of a concrete block and the compressive strength (f'c) of a cylindrical concrete sample. The degree of association obtained between the compressive strength of a concrete block (f'b) and the compressive strength of a cylindrical concrete sample (f'c) was high, because the Pearson correlation coefficient was found close to the unit.
