Introduction: Worldwide, one out of every three women has experienced sexual or physical aggression by her partner. In Peru, more than half of the women mentioned having suffered domestic violence, either by their partner, spouse or cohabitant. It should be noted that an important part of the cases of violence are psychological and/or verbal violence, therefore, violence against women is a serious problem in our country where the victims are of different age, socioeconomic level and race, because any woman is vulnerable to suffer partner violence increasing the risks of depression, anxiety and stress. Objective: To determine the relationship between intimate partner violence and depression, anxiety and stress in female students of Human Medicine at the Universidad Andina del Cusco. Materials and methods: This is a correlational, cross-sectional and prospective study. The sample consisted of 360 female students of Human Medicine of the Universidad Andina del Cusco, considering that they have or have had at least one partner, where the Violence Index and DASS 21 were applied as instruments. Results: Moderate positive correlations were reported between the intimate partner violence variable and the variables of depression (r=0.577), anxiety (r=0.663) and stress (r=0.611) in the sample studied. A varied distribution was shown in the levels of depression, mild (28%), moderate (22%) and severe (13%), with a considerable proportion of the sample experiencing some degree of depression. Moderate (26%) and severe (10%) levels of anxiety are also present in the sample. As for stress, it indicates that a proportion of the sample experiences mild (23%), moderate (30%) and severe (9%) levels of stress. Conclusions: Faced with the existence of intimate partner violence, the victim is likely to develop elevated levels of depression, anxiety and stress.
