In the present study were use two didactic methods for teaching the techniques of teeth brushing, which are: the demonstrative method and the explanatory method. We worked with 42 school students of 3, 4 and 5 years old, primary school, registered in school, year 2015, and from the Santa Cecilia Private Educational Institution - Cusco. For research, students were divided into two groups as follows: 1. The first twenty children were part of the demonstrative method and the remaining twenty-two formed the group for the explanatory method, both groups considered children from 3, 4 and 5 years old according to the list of the educational institution. 2. For the members of each group, we carried out a control of dental plaque prior to the toothbrushing technique using different didactic methods, in it we obtained, using the O'LEARY index, an initial average for both groups. 3. Subsequently,we worked with each one of the groups teaching them the toothbrushing technique, using the two didactic teaching methods as follows: Group 1 (Demonstrative Method): This group was taught about the technique of toothbrushing by the demonstrative method. For this, we used typodonts and brushes, which served as a model for teaching the children the teeth brushing technique. Every child in this group received a toothbrush and during the demonstration they usedit as well as the instructor. Group 2 (Explanatory Method): This group was taught about the technique of teeth brushing using the explanatory method. For this, we used sheets of paper with drawingsin order to explain to the children members of this group. Each method was given three times to each kid making a total of 10 days from the groups in order to set the learning in school for an established period. Once we finished the controls and reinforcements for each one of the groups, we carried out the control of dental plaque to each one of the groups, obtaining the following results with the O'LEARY index: For Group 1, 100% of students evolved from a score of 3 to 1 and 6 days a control of dental plaque 1 to a result on day 10 of the control board; but not 100% of children involved in learning with the explanatory method evolved as a result only 3 in 1 day and 6 days of plaque control an outcome 2 on the tenth day of plaque control. Therefore, the group which obtained better results in controlling dental plaque during the study was group 1 through the Demonstrative Method.
