ABSTRACT The objective of this research topic is the superficial evaluation of the flexible pavement of highway 28G (Cusco - Pisac) with a total length of 32 + 360 km, for which the use of the traditional PCI methodology and the VANT methodology was considered. based on the ASTM D6433 standard, thus demonstrating the differences between both methodologies, verifying which is more efficient. Being the VANT methodology, a new alternative that applies the use of drones for pavement evaluation, the level of reliability of the results obtained from it was evaluated, compared to the traditional methodology of the Pavement Condition Index (PCI). For the evaluation of highway 28G, 16 randomly chosen representative sample units were obtained and 5 additional sample units chosen in the field, considered in both methodologies. To verify the condition of the pavement using the traditional PCI methodology, an inventory of correctly sized faults is made for each sample unit, using data collection sheets provided by the ASTM D6433 standard. While for the UAV methodology, the inventory of faults is carried out using georeferenced images obtained with the Mavic 2 Pro drone, these being processed in the cabinet with the use of Agisoft Metashape software, obtaining orthophotos where the types of faults found are displayed and dimensioned. Using the traditional PCI methodology, an average pavement condition index of 45.80 was obtained, which shows a regular state of conservation. While for the VANT methodology, a pavement condition index of 46.81 was obtained, which also presents a regular state of conservation. It is shown that with 95% reliability there is no significant difference between both results. And at the same time, it is verified that the VANT methodology is a more efficient alternative to the traditional PCI methodology.
