The aim of this research was to establish the relation between nutritional status and dental eruption of the first permanent teeth in children of 5 to 7 years old in the National Institution “Humberto Luna” of Cusco. The sample was composed of 180 students. Methodologically, this study has a mixed approach, it is a correlational and a cross-sectional study. A data collection sheet elaborated specifically for the research was used as instrument. The data processing was performed with the program SPSS 21 edition. Descriptive statistic was used with frequency distribution and central tendency. In order to establish whether or not there was relation between the variables, the Chi-square test was applied, with a significance level of 0.05. The results allowed us to determine that there is a positive, statistically significant, relation between the nutritional status and the eruption of the teeth 1.6, 2.6, and 2.1 of the maxilla. There is a positive, statistically significant relation between the nutritional status and the eruption of the first permanent teeth from the jaw bone, since children with malnutrition and in risk of malnutrition had a higher percentage of non-erupted teeth in relation to those with a normal nutritional status.
