BACKGRUOND: In recent years, after the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic, it generated changes in the world at the health system level, and mainly at the economic level, producing a series of factors that were related to acute malnutrition in infants, mainly between 6 months and 2 years, generating a series of complications both at a personal, family and society level, increasing the percentage of acute malnutrition in Latin America and in the world. OBJECTIVE: To establish which are the Associated Factors in the development of Acute Malnutrition in infants from 6 months to 2 years in the Huancarani Health Center between January and December of the year 2021. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present study has an analytical - observational research design of a cross-sectional correlational - causal type, under a retrospective study chronology. The study involved 202 infants between 6 months and 2 years old, who live in the district of Huancarani, in its 14 communities, which were treated at the Huancarani Health Center between January and December 2021. An instrument was used as a Data Collection Sheet with 27 items. RESULTS: In total, ten factors were found to be significantly associated with acute malnutrition, focused on sociodemographic, personal, family and social factors, without obtaining a significant association of environmental factors. CONCLUSIONS: The factors associated with the development of Acute Malnutrition in infants aged 6 months to 2 years at the Huancarani Health Center between January and December 2021 are: the origin of the infant, the type of breastfeeding, the age of weaning, infant development according to developmental milestones, type of acute malnutrition, maternal age, maternal mental health, accessibility to basic services, eating habits and customs, with an appropriate level of significance with p < 0.05 . The demographic factor most associated with the development of acute malnutrition was the origin of the infant. The personal factors most associated with the development of acute malnutrition were the type of breastfeeding, the age of weaning, the development of the infant according to developmental milestones and the type of acute malnutrition, with an adequate significance level, with p < 0.05. The most associated family factors were maternal age, maternal mental health, accessibility to basic services, and eating habits, with a significance level adequate, with p < 0.05. The most associated social factors were eating habits, with an adequate level of significance, with p < 0.05. There were no associated environmental factors.
