The Andean man considers the coca leaf as a sacred plant, used as food and medicine because it gave him extraordinary powers to conquer the rugged geography of their habitat and because cured all ills. The coca leaf is an excellent nutritional source, has high contents of proteins, vitamins and minerals, the virtues and medicinal benefits of the coca leaf are precisely due to their 14 natural alkaloids. The aim of this thesis was carried out in order to study and analyze benefits of the coca leaf in tourists who have symptoms related to altitude sickness, which helped us to identify the level of acceptance of the coca leaf. By means of surveys held international tourists who are returning to their country at the international airport Alejandro Velazco Astete, was obtained as results that the consumption of coca leaves in the form of infusions is used as a first alternative to mitigate the symptoms of altitude sickness. For the conclusions recommended workshops and awareness talk’s personnel linked to make a forceful information that will be transmitted and shared with foreign tourists.
